THE WINTER COURSE!
The Crown in the North for Training, Sword & Scoundrel, in partnership with Jack of All Blade, present the Winter course in the North, at the illustrious Royal Armouries in Leeds and the Leeds Beckett University School of Arts. This course is the only one of its kind in the country, offering access to the archives to allow depth of study in the history and culture of weaponry, supporting the skills learnt in performance combat.
The Winter Course is a six day course, focusing on a variety of weapon styles which can be taken separately, or all together as an intensive course. The specific weapons are the following;
Standard; Rapier & Companion, Broadsword & Shield
Intermediate; Rapier & Companion, Sword & Shield
Advanced; Rapier & Companion, Sword & Shield
The options on this course are the following;
Archive day at the Armouries - 16th
Baton/Axe/Poleaxe - 17th, 18th (Study), 21st, Exam
Single Sword/Smallsword- 19th, 20th (Study), 21st, Exam
Both weapons, 17th-20th (Study), 21st, Exam
This course runs in three sections. The first day, included, is optional, and a day of study at the Royal Armouries (an Archive tour is available for a limited number of students, ticketed at an additional £45.00). The remainder of training will be held at the Leeds Beckett University School of Arts, with the Exam held on the 21st. You may enrol on any level, provided you have attained 3 Merits at the previous level.

Fightreels
A two day event, open to Advanced combatants, filming two fightreels with different weapons, of your choice from our list. It will be fully costumed, filmed on locations in Kent, and edited by our DoP at Bruce Partleton Films.
Day 1.
Choreographing, Learning, and rehearsing your fights at our rehearsal location.
Confirming costume choices.
Preparation for Shoot.
Day 2.
Filming the reels on location.
Your reels will then be edited and released to you the following week!
8am-6pm Each day.

THE SUMMER COURSE!
This is THE residential Summer Course; its heritage directly hails from the packed summer courses of formerly Sir Roger Manwood's, Sandwich, and St Donats Castle, Cardiff!
A week of intense work learning three weapon systems to put together into a compelling scene, with free evening workshops with visiting professionals in different real world disciplines and theatrical skills. The price includes not just the course and exam fee, but accommodation and meals at the King's School, Canterbury within the historic Cathedral grounds (The oldest continuously operating school in the world!).
The Summer Course is a five day residential course, focusing on a variety of weapon styles. The specific weapons are the following;
Standard; Rapier & Dagger, Single Sword, Unarmed
Intermediate; Longsword, Baton, Unarmed
Advanced; , Group Mixed weapons, Sabre, Knife & Rope
Single weapon + Workshop; Baton Syllabus (advanced), Theatrical Firearms, Military Skills
Specialisation; 2x Weapons for those signed up.
This course has limited spaces per Course type due to accommodation and quality. You may enrol on any level, provided you have attained 3 Merits at the previous level.
